I thought that was the way an auction worked?! its not the market value...its not the true value, its what a person is prepared to pay for the item on that day...step up to the mark...put your money(and reputation) were your mouth is...and offer what YOU think you want to pay...If someone steams in at the last second and out bids you...tough, personally my balls get the better of me in an auction, and if I can I'll out bid all...hell, Ive even offered 25% over the top, just to piss people off  ...T.T.

Yup, and today ain't the day the auction ends, is it? I'll bid what I'm willing and ABLE to pay if I'm able to pay it and the bidding hasn't gone above what I can afford.

Meh, I've won enough eBay auctions to know how I play the auction game. If someone DOES come in at the last second, that's well and good and they've sniped it fair and square(ish).

But I'm not going to bid what I can afford -right now- on a public forum so that everyone and their dog knows exactly what they have to bid in order to outbid me specifically. I'd rather save that knowledge until closer to the time.

Ssthisto,

But I'm familiar with people 'retracting' bids on other forums - I've been stuck with a much higher bid than I had originally intended because an 'unknown' jumped in with a price they later decided they couldn't afford. That's why I queried it
Having had your auction experience, I cant understand why you said that, regardless of other bids made then retracted, which you out bid anyway, why the fuss?, unless you suspected foul play?...T.T.

Strangely not heard the bidder backing up the suspect bid only the seller.

Surely if you bid £100 you would be watching and you would have at least made a couple of posts after finding the site.

I do have my suspicions as to who made the bid, shame I cant see IP addresses

*chuckle* The previous experience of auctions and retracted bids was not with real cash that would pay my bills. It's one thing to offer goods or services which are essentially free (and have someone's previous, lower bid retracted, which means I could have made a lower offer and still won the auction) ... and another entirely to have it be actual real money, and at this time of year, when there are a number of other things that the money could be spent on.

I can't afford to spend more than "Y" amount. But until I know which way the bidding's going, I don't want to share exactly what Y is. If I can bid something less-than-Y and win... then that's what I personally would prefer to do!

*brothers* ...I cant see this auction working, or indeed lasting till the end, there are just to many flaws in it from the start...

Not enough info. or rules, dummy bidders?...my guess is the seller will say, because of the low interest, he is not prepared to murder the item away, or sorry guys...sold privately?...T.T.

Hopefully you will have more auctions the same nige, preferably when I have some money

my theory on this one is seller should have set reserve of £100 instead of a ghost bid. Only my theory though.
