silkworms are a more nutritious staple than crickets and just need to be fed their mulberry chow. perhaps you could breed your own silkies, they are expensive but would be worth it if you could keep your beardie and they need to be kept clean so they dont stink like crickets. nixxa you deffo need to do your research before you buy a beardie as you dont seem to know much about them and i dont think anyone on here would like to sell you one if they dont think you know how to care for it. im sure if you read up a bit til your confident you can remember the basics of their care you will be able to buy one easily then.

Fair point Bev. Am in the middle of doing my homework anyhow.

However, I'm still interested in this little fellow so please let me know if the missus has a change of heart or not.

Cheers

Hi NIXXA,

i think you really need to do a little research, i am not saying you need to be an expert as you can see from the help i have just had from Bev i am not!
but when you can come back to me with info on their basic care i may consider selling to you!

temerature?
basking temperature?
diet?
heating methods?
lighting methods and why?

If you are serious about getting a dragon you should at least find these things out first, dragons are easy to care for, but without these basic facts you are on a hiding to nothing.

please any one feel free to add to this list, as i say i am no expert and allways ready to learn more

thanks All

blimey - I have done some reading you lot

right then the exam answers are (and I fully understand why you are concerned!):-

Temp : 80-85 (60+ nightime)
Basking Temp: 90 - 115
diet:
crickets, pinkie/fuzzy mice, greens such as kale, parsley, veg such as carrots, squash oh and silkworms  . Fresh food should be dusted twice a week with vitamins/minerals. Spray mist the dragon daily for them to get their water supply. Fruit such as apple, pears and blueberries

heating methods: overhead lighting and/or under tank mat with full thermosat control

lighting: UV-B and UV-A required as this helps with the vitamin D-3 which in turn helps with absorbing calcium. They need approx 14 hours of "daylight" a day and aids the maintenance of heat retention which in turn helps digestion.

That's what I know so far.

Cheers mate!

ideally for the uva/b light you want a reptiglo 8 or reptisun 10, but most similar brands will do. these need to be replaces every 6 months usually. the uva/b aids the dragons absorption/conversion of calcium/d3 and without the supplemented vits/calcium and uva/b light they get metabolic bone disorder.
lol looks like your on the right track dude.
dunno why i know this stuff about beardies either lol, i dont even have one. not that i dont like em, just cant afford the initial cost and upkeep as well as all my other pets, an i aint gettin rid of my babies.
