She is on dust free wood shavings that contain no cedar or pine that is produced for use with reptiles, never had any problems keeping Hognoses on/in it before,in fact they seem to love it.Sand is not a great substrate to use for many reasons, ease of proper cleaning for one, ingestion being another(I feed outside the viv before you start)and most Hognoses keepers and breeders I know use newspaper with a dig box included in the tub/viv.In fact not one of the 9 other Hognose keepers I know use sand as a substrate, and Barry Summerhayes, probably the UK's biggest or well known Hognose breeder recommends newspaper as the ideal substrate on his website Welcome Page
Give it a read eh?
I am in St.Leonards on Sea,East Sussex

Mine are on beech chipping and always have been and they love it as they can burrow in it.
