Hi
Does anyone have a Burmese that needs re-homing. My job involves giving educational talks in schools/colleges etc, covering topics such as the rainforest, habitats, life cycles, endangered species, pets etc. My employers have asked me to source a Burmese python to use in some talks. It will live with me and only be taken out by myself (and helper). I am not after a 'freebie', my employers are happy to buy one but I asked them if I could try and find one that needed re-homing first. I feel it is more responsible to use one that needed a home than just go out and buy one. It would never be sold or used for breeding and I have a lot of experience looking after snakes both large and small (thats how I got this job). All the animals I use for work live with me and are also pets, I do this job because I love the animals, it's certainly not for the money!! My employer will pay a rehoming fee and the snake will be housed in a large purpose built enclosure. If you would like any more info, please get in touch. Thanks Lee |

you may want to also ring your local reptile rescues as they may have one.

Has ReptileResuce managed to re-home the Burmese he had?
http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3376 I know this was not really looked after though and its temperament may not let you take it to schools etc... PS. You must have the best job in the world bar playing football for a livin' |

Thanks to you both for your responses, I have tried my local rescues but thank goodness it looks like the message is getting through to some people as they are no longer awash with Burm's, awkward for me but a very good thing (can't say the same about Iggy's sadly).
I have registered my interest with the 14ft Burm on the forum you kindly listed, apparently it's temperament isn't bad but it may be a while before its ready (also being lazy I was looking in case there was anywhere nearer to home in Hampshire). It has sore scar tissue and may not take too kindly to over handling for a while. I think I have the best job in the world, mind you ask me again when I'm cleaning up toad s**t at 6am before going to work! Thanks again to you both Lee |

Hiya can just confirm that the burm isn't ready due to scar tissue being sensitive etc. Will more than likely live here permanently.

Well I wasn't going to tell them you were a woman, just in case this is one of those scary forums where ome of the men pretend to be women!
Talking of which, I was in Winchester College today talking to an out of school club and trying to explain that my snail was a hermaphrodite. I was trying to keep it simple because they were only about 7yrs old, needent have worried though as they all understood when one of them piped up with 'oh it's a he-she'. At least he didn't call it a lady boy! |
