Default Food...help!

Hey,

My tortoise should be with me this time tomorow (yey!!) and i cant wait! I am just wondering...

What other leafy greans which we could eat (ie. types of lettuce etc.) which i could possibly mix in with some dandylion leaves that i might (strong enmphasis on that word) be able to find in the garden as there aernt many around atm and my weeds are just little green shoots at the moment...

many many thanks

Mike

Theres loads where I live. Try romaine lettuce and go on a weed hunt to a field somewhere, you'll find em.

You can start of with Mazuri, NutraZu or T-rex tortoise diet in addition to any dark leafy greens. The tortoise diet will provide all your nutritional needs and the greens are just filler or variety.

As you learn more you can replace the tortoise diet with all greens if you like but I suspect you will be more than happy with the results you obtain with the original diet.

Ok What would happen if they have been sprayed with some form of weedkiller or something if they eat it... will it kill em?

This is not a concern with a formulated diet. You also don't have to be concerned with the worry if you are feeding the proper plants either.

As I mentioned... as you learn more over time you can change things as you see fit but your tortoise will not suffer as you progress through the learning curve.
