Default My dog dug my tort up

A few weeks ago I moved my tort and his table downstairs and uprooted the dogs basket and moved it around to fit his table in.

Today I went to work and came home to find the dog had dug the tort table up and there was dirt/sand everywhere, luckily Sherbert (tort) had burrrowed down and avoided the attack, the dog also smashed his bulb and wrecked the netting covering the table in case of such attack.

Luckily Sherbert seems fine but might be a bit shaken, scared me more than him I expect.

Might be an idea not to leave the dog in the same room as the tort if you are not around.

Fit the chicken wire and make sure the dog has a good bed. He might have been after the warmth - or just tempted by the soil to have a good dig.

She did it again last night, it might be because she is slightly blind and maybe in her very old age she gets confused.

She is now in the kitchen and can't get to the tortoise.
I am hoping he will recover from his stress as he seems quite nervous now

at what point did you think it would be ok to keep a tort in a room a dog has access to?

There is nothing wrong with the dog having access to the room the tort is in. I have 6 dogs.... 3 Newfoundlands, 2 Cocker Spaniels and 1 German Shepherd and I don't have problems with the dogs and the torts simply because I wouldn't leave the dogs in the room with the torts if I went out of it. If I go upstairs the dogs are turfed out of the livingroom and the door is shut, at night they either sleep upstairs or in the dinning room, and if I go out they are all shut in the dinningroom or kitchen.

It's the same as the garden. The torts are out most of the time in the summer, and so are the dogs. But the dogs can't harm the torts as they have big enclosures which have lids made with avairy wire.
