the concave plastron doesn't really apply to hermanns. I dont think.
Things to look for 1) wide opening of the anal scutes can indicate male this is also a feature in badly grown tortoises 2) males tails are longer and fatter. the tip of a males tail will probably when tucked in touch his leg where a females probably wont 3) the vent on a female when viewed from below tends to be within the caraplace. On males it is usually crossing the caraplace or beyond it. You will have to hold the tail straight out to view this. just my observations of my own torts, hope this helps Jason |

They've come here asking for help not questioning as to why. I know for a fact that i enjoy knowing what sex my animals are. Mainly because I'd rather call my animals by he, or she rather than IT. Or maybe they want to breed? Or maybe to know the sex to give the animal(s) a name?
