I dont think locusts would not do any harm as long as it is an occasional treat.

Do you feed a variety of prepared foods? It also depends on sex & age as to what they prefer. More greens as they get older I think.

I feed my RES on a variety of Reptomin, T-REX pellets and dried river shrimp. For veggies he likes spinach, watercress & rocket & the odd grape. For the occasional fresh treat it is fish or prawns (shell on) but I have seen him eat the odd earthworm or slug too.

Hi,
im ali, i have a yellow bellied slider and a tank which includes a uv lighting unit, heat bulb, filter and a heater. due to the heater, my terrapin stays warm in the water and the water temperature is slightly above room temperature. I was just wondering if the heat bulb is crucial for my terrapin since i have a heater to keep him warm? also the hexagon shapes on his shell seems to be moving apart from one another and the border between each hexagon is beginning to widen. just wondering if this is normal for a terrapin as it grows?
Thanks

Yes you still need a basking light for them to dry off, and beside the light should be providing temps significantly higher than the water. Check this care sheet out: The Terrapin Tank - www.TerrapinTank.co.uk -

I've experienced the scutes moving apart in my Map, and his shell looks fine now, but I don't know the answer TBH.
