They're not ferocious beasts, they're just an animal. The on every occasion I've ever seen them bite a human, is when said human has hauled them out of the water.....it's probably just fighting for it's life. No they're not a "beginner's" turtle, but aslong as you can accomodate eventual size/required habitat and watch your limbs when handling, I don't see how they're any more difficult than your average turtle.

Indeed.

But pics 1 + 2 aren't...this is one serious turtle.

Personally i fail to see the point in owning a turtle (or any creature for that matter) that you will probably never see.

Plus you are commiting yourself to the next several decades.

I would want to avoid insane biting machines in my old age.

Additionally, if you are genuine about this then get one of the 100's that are in the nations (assuming you are in the UK) reptile rescue organisations. These animals are up with Burmese pythons for the amount of retards that buy them with no clue what they getting into. And there is no sense in further straining wild populations ( i think they may be quite endangered these days..not 100% sure though).

The centre i used to work for had about 20 alligator and 40 odd common snappers.

Thats just the fun that comes with the reptile there are only captive breeders on the internet and and a cb a reptile shop owner knows. does anyone know if that size tank is gonna be ok or will he outgrow it, or should i go for bigger ive got a room for pets and my friend chris at the reptile shop thinks i should stick with his burmese python because thats what i orriganaly asked for, he thinks that i should'nt go down the alligator snapper road because of their size but i was thinking burmese grow a hell of a lot bigger? buy the way i do love burmese
