Unhappy Tubby hungry Hermann!!

I normally feed my tortoise every other day and let him eat as much as he wants on that day. But recently on non-feeding days he still tries 2 eat anything he can manage to get his mouth around!!
I don't want to feed him anymore, as when i got him checked out after i got him i was told he was over weight!!! any ideas?!

Try feeding him every morning and afternoon but after 1 hour remove the remaining food, this may take him a week to settle into a routine but you should see an improvment.

Hope that helps.

If a tort is being greedy it is often better to feed at peak periods of activity as food tends to try up if left all day but food is limited as they only have an hour to graze so they are not able to munch all day long. I have done this for 29 years and never had an over weight tort.

If fed twise a day then this can cause deformities from over feeding.
I have many rehomers with me that have been fed too much and have pyramiding.
You really need to go on weight gain.
