I had a horsefield for 4 or 5 months last year, Just looking after it. it was that why i decided to get some torts.

I honestly think that the meds are easier to keep, but only in the cost and general care, but in the feeding, it has to be tropicals that are easier as they dont just rely on weeds.

any particular reason u do not want a tortoise that hibernates?

Pics of my baby torts....

This is thread on the two baby tortoises i recently bought. I would seriously reccommend this breed as a good hardy tortoise for a starter and also the breeder is top notch too!!

.

I keep leopards and sulcatas and if i gave them fruit then i ampretty sure they wouldnt have a clue what to do with it! it can cause MAJOR gut probs as they are grass eaters and eat 70%hay and dried grass. they cost me £70 a month just in heating bills in the winter and i have a huge split greenhouse for the summer. Gotta agree that meds seem alot easier to keep (easier on the pocket, and hardier as they are more acclimatised to the UK) but i love my africans!

Meds are easier thats why lot of people breed them, but you hardly ever see tunisian or pancake breeders.

Dont alot of people breed them because they are easy to breed though? I heard that the pancakes are harder to breed?

Might be wrong though.

Pancakes only lay one egg a time and require high temps again.
I hope to breed my pair in the future.
