Default Heat lamp for turtle

One of my turtles is not eating and both turtles are sleeping an awful lot. Reading other posts on this board I think this may be because the water is to cold and they don't have a heat lamp. Again this is because when I brought them from a pet shop they told me I would only need a UV bulb. The tank has a heater and the temp is normally around 22-23.
I have brought a 100W heat lamp bulb (screw in) and was wondering if someone can advise me where to buy a lamp holder which will attach to the top of the tank. Thanks

I'd also be very interested in your filter arrangement and water quality as well as the temperature. This can make them off their food.

I'd do a significant water change. If thats the problem they will pick up very quickly.

They still need a good basking spot and lamp though.

Be carefull with 100 watt not to put it too close to the basking spot or they will burn. You need a thermometer to test the temps.

I've got map turtles and only one is off it's food not both. The water quality is really good, I only cleaned them out on Wed, an I have a really strong filiter and use water cleaner as well. When we went away for a week my boyfriend turned the heating off and so it made them alot colder (something I hadn't realised he'd done!) and they've been alot sleepier ever since. I tried feeding the little one who isn't eating in a seperate container with warm water, and although he was more active he just wasn't intrested in the food like it wasn't there. They appear to be eating the cuttle fish left in the tank though, which is covered in bite marks so I would assume they are hungrey.

What are you feeding? Shame about the power being off like that. Is the water back up to temperature now? Does the turtle have puffy eyes at all?

If they are not warm enough, they won't eat. simple. Get a basking spot in there, aswell as a water heater, they should be eating in no time. If not, it must be something else.

A water heater may not be neccessary, it depends how old they are. Low 20s is fine for temperate species over a year old, younger than that and it needs to be in the mid-20s.
They do need a basking lamp though, an ordinary 40-60W reflector is quite adequate, mounted at a height to achieve a 32°C basking spot temp.
When you say you have a "really strong filter", exactly what filter is it, is it an internal or external, and are you sure it's adequate for the size of tank? Turts need far bigger and more powerful filters than most people imagine, especially Maps which need exceptionally clean water.
And what is this water cleaner you're using? If your filter is up to the job then you don't need anything else, if you find you need to add chemicals to maintain water quality then your filter is probably inadequate.

can you please recommend a good 40-60w reflecter? I've had a look at kimbo's reptile shop but got very confused as to what I need. I suspect my turtle hasn't actually eaten any food for about two weeks (at least I haven't seen him eat), when should I really start to worry? He doesn't have puffy eyes and is still sunnying himself on the rock under the UV light, but does seem to close his eyes and sleep alot more. I know I don't have the best filter, it's internal but it's the biggest one in the range, it's a stingray 15. But as I said the water quality is good, I've only just cleaned them out and he's still not intrested in the food, it's almost as if he can't see it or is scared of it. I feed them King British complete food with pellets and shrimp.
