Many tortoise keepers stress weeds... Egyptians are unique in that they seem to process foods to an extreme... to save moisture. This is why you see the white 'urates' so often with these. This is not only urates but salts. I'll bet a good percentage of these critters die to renal failure due to a specialized adaptation that we don't fully understand... leading to their downfall.

For those keeping these... think about it.
I will keep my fingers crossed, The lumpy shell in only one p me off though

I've got 2 babies left... both lumpy shells... I don't care... they have good general shape and are doing well. One produced eggs at 4 years old... I'm currently hunting for a male... (not for me... the tortoise)

It is quite a few years ago now, at the time I thought RNS, but it was very weak when I had it, since then I have changed my opinion and think it was just the typical hatchling failure you get with these torts.

I hatched out over 70... one... was expected to die out of the egg... one of the albinos.

'hatchling failure' is a keepers excuse to not except responsibility for their Fups.
