yes imports are cheaper for the shops.but alot inflate the prices to a point where for average joe bloggs going to buy a tortoise they are much more expensive, than sourcing uk cb.

Also my horsfields have man made/given hides and still prefer to burrow down.i've tried large shelters, small shelters, ones which are a snug fit to the shell to replicate burrows. They've had foliage they can hide in if they desire, tubing..placed throughout the enclosure to provide different temperatures within the hides, but they still prefer to dig down, so i leave them to it.

You might want to explain because I totally agree.

The world is shrinking in an exponential rate. In less than ten years... you can't imagine the controlls/laws.

This isn't strictly true, if you look around and are prepared to travel, there are some good prices to be found, i.e. 5/6 year old Hermanns, already chipped for around 175 pounds, 5year old Horsefeilds for around 100 pounds.

It's not surprising that these importers are doing a brisk trade as it allows people who wish to take up the hobby seriously to obtain stock which will be of breeding age in the next few years as opposed to buying hatchlings and having to wait 10 years or more.
