I believe you! I wonder how much UVB they are emitting after 12 months though, seeing as flourescents produce precious little even when new compared to mercury vapour.

You sure, I thought that the active UV bulbs last for as long as they work but you are recommened to change every 1 year. Active UV bulbs are the way forward. I use both as as my torts are in a shed so I need to have stated spotlights and uv strips to prevent overheating in the summer.

If you stick with the following you won't go far wrong :

Mega- Ray
T - Rex
Powersun

Mega-ray are growing in popularity they are a superb bulb and each and every bulb is production line tested - of the range i sell i get the least problems with the mega-ray - YES the t-rex is essentially the same bulb but i counld'nt comment on production methods - all i can say is i am yet to have a mega-ray bulb returned.

I understood it was exactly the same bulb, same design, made in the same factory, just different packaging.

your not wrong Graham, and i could'nt comment on the t-rex side of things, but bob has some very strict productioin guidelines, and each and every bulb is production line tested - i can only be guided by personal experiance and i am yet to have a mega ray bulb returned in the last four months.
