Most rescue tortoises seem to go through the tortoise trust & the british chelonia group. You would need to join both organisations and the TT 'encourage' people to do their course. There are a few other oranisations moving into this side of things.

A word to the wise - it is not unheard of for rehomed tortoises to come with expensive veterinary problems. This is why for the time being I'm staying well clear.

Ah well I must have been lucky the I have "rescued" around 25 in the last 2 years and only had the usual worming and one RNS that cost me money...oh and Freda's plastron reseal.
Have had a couple that were poorly...old age and a lack of "modern husbandry" before they came to me...but nothing I couldnt deal with!!
The BCG generally gets them up to scratch before they send them out...as with Freda's hysterectomy and Little Teds being run down. They treated overwintered and then sent them on to me.

I agree that their Website certainly needs updating but I doubt whether they want the hastle of running a discussion forum

I like the fact that they're a registered Charity and the financial side of things is subject to scrutiny by the Charity Commission . They are also run by committee which I reckon is the right way of operating an organisation such as the BCG.

The Milton Keynes symposium looked really interesting and I plan to go next year.

I sometimes have a few tortoises come to me through my site for re-homing.
If you look at my site:
Tortoise-world.com - Home of the original UK Tortoise Breeders list, by Josh Parry

there is more information.

However, I would reccomend joining the TT and taking the course, You are much more likely to get one through a major organisation such as this rather than smaller sites.
