Ive gone with cork bark for now, as I planned to buy some of this for them to bask on.
However, my big-mouthed turt has decided its tasty and keeps biting chunks out of it (actually he has a small head and they are small chunks - but impressive all the same). Do you think he'll keep doing this, causing health problems, or will he eventually realise there is just no taste to cork bark and stop(...unless maybe it is quite tasty...can't say ive ever tried myself!). |

Maybe you can suggest something for me please, we are putting in a larger preformed pond for my turtles it will have basking areas around the sides, does anyone know how you can make/attach a ramp to the pond so they can get out also a suggestion for a basking area in the middle of the pond I know bark floats but they tip it over unless its wedged or anchored, I want something that looks nice any ideas, thanks

I use plastic coated garden wire to secure ramps in the pond.
To make a basking island buy a large plastic plant tub, put bricks in the bottom and sink it (make sure the tub has holes so it fills with water), then top it off with coarse gravel. Obviously it needs to be tall enough that the top is above water level, or you could pack it up with more bricks underneath if the pond is deep and you can't find a big enough tub. Because the tub is filled with water you can plant marginal and bog plants in it to make it more attractive, I have reeds planted in mine. |

Or on the ramp you cna use skateboard grip tape it wokrs wonders and not rough on the shell just really grippy. My basking area is made from perspex and i use the toaster to bend it he he and then use the grip tape one the ramp. You can get it from any skate shop possible even sport shops lol |
