Default any turtle ramp ideas?

i just built a new basking area for my wee turtles that will sit on top of the tank (made from perspex). However Im not sure how to make a ramp.
The perspex base will be about 3-5 cms above the water surface.
I thought of just adding a piece of the perspex that angles its way into the water, but i guess id have to add grooves for them to grip on.

but does anyone have some interesting alternatives?

The perspex (or glass) ramp angled into the water can work well as long as it is fixed well & is sturdy enough to not bend/move under the weight of your turts. I seen some water proof type rubber 'tread' which you can sick to it to give grip. (similar to as used on stairs.)

Then again cork bark might be simpler?

I used to use a timber ramp, but now I've switched to a cork platform - they seem to be able to pull their way up onto that without a ramp.

I think that could work, and the astroturf could also be laid so as to run over the entire out-of-water part too if that makes sense.

I've seen perspex (or glass.. couldn't tell) ramps for turtles for sale. They where in a petshop in spain and the turtles where kept quite horribly, but I couldn't help but think that their ramps where brilliant

They where about a 6 square inch perspex/glass piece, with a long ramp that went about 2 " below the water depth and they had plastic grass on them, the baby turtles could use them easily.

failing that you can simply use aquarium sealant in lines across the perspex, which will work like a ladder.

It's years since I kept terrapins but I used to make my ramps out of cement in a mould made from wood.Basically it was a straight piece of concrete with a lip at one end to hang on to the glass divider in the tank.Gravel was pressed into the surface to give adhesion and to look better. If you make the ramp full width you can hide the heater underneath then the boisterous inhabitants don't knock it about so much.
alsp a bit of chicken wiire or mesh in the middle of the mould strengthens it greatly.
