Default Rare turts needing good homes.

I had a phone call this morning from Heathrow Airport, at the weekend they seized an illegal shipment of very rare Mock Turtle hatchlings and are trying to find homes for them all with experienced keepers, and were asking if I could help.

Because of quarantine laws these turtles cannot be returned to their country of origin, and they can't be passed on to shops as they are a CITES protected species and illegal to sell in the UK.

They are an extremely interesting species to keep, remaining fairly small and requiring no special setup other than what most turt keepers already have, they are quite compatible with most other species and it would be no problem keeping them together.

If anyone feels they can help please let me know asap.

Yes this really does need to be sorted today Terry!

I've had a few PMs from people wanting to know a bit more about them, to be honest I have no experience of keeping them myself, I only know what I've read and can only suggest you do a search and read up for yourselves.

I believe their latin name is Pseudemys carrolli if that helps.

I'm willing to swap for a couple of Galapagos Tortoises that I happen to have kicking around my spare bedroom for these fascinating mock turtles.
