Default map turtles

i have 2 caglei map turtles and iv noticed that when there basking if some1 enters the same room they jump in the water swimming very fast. is it normal for them to be this afraid or am i just worrying over nothing.

Perfectly normal, especially for Maps which tend to be more skittish than other species, in time they may get used to you coming in the room and just carry on basking, or they may not.
I know people who've had Maps for years and never seen them bask, just heard the splash as they open the door!

Its even better if its the terrapin at the bottom of a stack that decides to jump into the water!
