Default Turtles: Mixing species

Hi Guys,

I would never advise for someone to keep torts of different species together, however, can you keep *turtles* of different species together providing they have identical care?

Why would it be acceptable to mix different species with a water turtle and not a tortoise?

To answer your question... sure... what couldn't you keep two different water turtles with the same requirements in the same enclosure... just like you can with tortoises.

It's posts like that which turn away newer members when they get jumped on for a simple question.

Smile keeping turts together

Yes you can keep different turts together, as long as they have simular requirements, which can be researched on websites, books, there are a lot of good websites and forums. I keep 2 groups maps and musks together, (they all started out same size as well), and Res and Ybs together all seem happy

Next week im due to get a Cooter which after a time spent alone to ensure good health will be placed into a tank with my young Slider.

Keeping different species together is okay if neither of them lack in any of their needed requirements, and if one species isnt outwardly aggressive!

I try!
was trying to highlight the difference between "could I?" and "should I"

plus ligten the mood a little as the OP took a moderately polite if a little sarcy (but correct IMO) answer as some kind of personal attack.

Hey guys, whats the difference between a cooter and a slider? I was under the impression that some of these common names were interchangable?
