Due to the 2yr old kiddie constantly harrasing them and being at risk of pulling the tank over etc, I need to sell my 2 terrapins, my son has taken an instant fascination to them, but not the way we would like, he charges at the tank etc, and for safety for all concerned they need to go.
My question is where do you sell terrapins? I dont want to just sell them anywhere, I would like them to go to a good home where they would be kept together (been in the same tank for 7 years together). Are there specialists reptile classifieds for these animals? also what price would be fair? Here is what I have: -2 Terrapins, believed to be male and female, although not confirmed. -2ft Fish Tank. -Exo Terra Light Bulb fitted in the hood of the tank. -Fluval 2+ Filter unit. -Black Stand/Unit with 2 shelves for the tank to go on. Any ideas? |

What species are they, and what size? Some are worth money, but the more common species are worth at most the value of any kit that goes with them.
However, the setup you've listed isn't suitable for two 7 year-old turts so wouldn't be much use to a new owner, not unless they were going to put something else in it. So unless they are something rare you'd do best putting them up for rehoming, someone with similar species and an existing setup might take them off you. There's a classifieds section on this very site, try listing them there, also on the Terrapin Tank forum, but find out what they are first and post some photos with your ad.

Here are some Images of them and their setup. I dont know what species they are? All I know is they are from Romania.
![]() ![]() I may pop them in the classifieds if anyone can help me identify the species? I just noticed I have no images of their undersides, they have very busy pattern underneath them, not plain yellow like a lot of the images I have seen, Although I still think they are a common species? I have looked after them greatly, but they could probably do with a bigger tank anyways if anyone took them, they are not the slightest bit nasty, very playful, eat very very well. Very easy to look after. Last edited by Kazz; 06-04-2008 at 01:42 PM.. |

Looks like a pair of female Red Eared Sliders, what makes you think they may be male and female?
At 7 years old you'd definitely see the difference between them if they were, as the male would have the characteristic long claws and a much longer tail than the female. He'd also be constantly trying to mate with her! As I said the setup is far too small so no-one would really want that, if I were you I'd offer the turts for rehoming and sell the setup for what you can get, should be worth a few quid to somene for keeping fish or amphibians.
