Default Tesco Selling live turle in Shanghai for cooking pot

Tescoshopping branch in Shanghai are selling live turtles, tortoises and frogs for chinses cooking pots .Apart from that the conditions in which they live in and transporting.
Tesco all so said they are unwilling to give up trade of the pain and misery of its multi-billion pound annual turnover that live turtle sales represent.

All off a new care for wild leafet in west midlands fish stores.

This is nothing new. They've been selling turtles etc ever since they opened stores in China. Why shouldn't they sell them? If there's a demand for the product, then surely it makes sense for them to sell it? they don't pretend that they're a rescue centre, they're a business.

we only see it as cruel because we have them as pets, but is it any different from eating a pig or a cow? as long as the animal is being farmed for that perpose and not wild caught i don't se the problem.

So you stand where on wild-caught fish?

I cant say i agree with Tesco, but i eat other meats so its a bit hypocritical of me.

I agree with you. I like horses and dogs and wouldn't dream of eating them. However if I were in France or China I'd respect the culture and culinary heritage. As said, as long as the animal in question is farmed or raised for the purpose I don't see the issue.

That is your choice not to shop at TESCO but I see no reason to force one persons views on other people.

It might be seen as cruel by some and not by others.

If these turtles are farmed and raised for the food market I don't see where it is wrong.

Method of slaughter? Dissected alive?

Even the most enthusiastic diner of beefsteaks might have a problem if they hacked the cows to pieces alive... slowly...... have you Bill McCords horrific video, Ed? I'm sure you must have done. That scene with the large softshell snapping at the knife as it was being cut apart over many, many minutes was beyond my own level of toleration to even watch it. I had to leave the room.

Can participating in cruelty on that scale be excused as part of someone's "culture"? I don't think so, which is one reason why I find what these Western companies are doing in China so totally unacceptable.
