I use 2.5% panacur liquid mixed in with a bit of pureed food then give it via syringe, I have always done it like this because I didn't like the idea of giving it via tube. I started out going to the vets to have it done but at the time it used to cos me close to £50 (probably more now) just to be told that he didn't have worms (when I knew that myself) but to give them the worming agent anyway to stop anything forming. It's cheaper to do it my way every spring. Or is this really bad Dontello has always been fine, obviously if I ever suspected anything was wrong i'd go to the vets immediately.

I lost my female's trust after a vet trip a couple of years ago. The vet was trimming her nails (for some reason despite rocks etc her back nails never quite wear down enough ans occasionally she needs them clipped) and cut too high and caught the blood vessel. Poor Bob - she retracted straight into her shell and since then won't come out for the vet at all. She will come out for me, but as soon as I try to do anything vaguely vet-like, she's back in! Last time when she was wormed the vet took her to the back to get her to put her head out - I don't know what he did, clearly it wasn't pleasant othewise he would have done it in front of me! She seemed ok though. IT was a real struggle to keep her head out though and she's not that big!

Luckily wurtle, who is so much bigger and stronger, is much easier to deal with - nothing phases him!

I'm now trying to regain her trust by getting her used to me touching her face, jaw, feet etc at every opportunity, but I think one of the main problems is she probably now associates the smell of the Vet's clinic with something traumatic so I suspect it will take a long time before she's back to how she used to be.

long post - sorry!
