Hi I need to give my tortoise enclosure a complete clean and disinfect , i normally use diluted milton steraliser . However as it is worms I am trying to eradicate is there a more effective disinfectant that I can get hold of today rather than order ,asI intend to do it this eve .

i geuss it really depend on what it is you are disenfecting! if its a small tort table then a 5% bleach solution is perfectly ok to use as long as its well aired and left to air dry. Leave the table without any substrate, except newspaper for ease of cleaning. if its a shed or greenhouse then you could get some F10sc vets disinfectant. This is Ultra good, and very safe, so safe it can be nebulised and used to treat RIs. so its good to have in the tort emergency medicine cabinet anyway. if you need to do an outside inclosure, then it gets a bit complicated. if its grassed, cut the grass so you can see any faeces left by your tortoise, and in turn clean it up ASAP. if its a soil sand area, scrape the top inch of substrate away and replace with fresh.

I use Virkon, though I use the professional one as I buy a 2.5kg tub from my vets every couple of years. Costs a fortune!
