btw... those photos are fantastic. What kind of camera did you use?

I'll bet you can get the results you want with photoshop.

Thanks Ed - I can't remember the model - cheap, cheerful, slightly smaller than a house brick, with a waterproof plastic box... I've never been one to spend any kind of money on a camera - most of my electronic gadgets have a fairly short life-expectancy...

My latest is an Olympus U770 SW that I got for my Namibia trip last year. It's small, waterproof and has survived everything thrown at it so far (including a week of living rough in a desert), but I haven't yet had the chance to take it to any kind of depth.

As for the photoshop thing, I got CS3 a few months ago, but haven't had the time to sit down and figure out what's what with it just yet - it's on my list for the summer!

I assume you got some great lizard/gecko shot from Namibia... Where can I see those... some Ptenopus and Chondrodactylus... the snakes are not really important.

I didn't actually get that much time to go reptile hunting in Namibia - I was with a team tracking elephants, and they didn't like us wandering off poking around in undergrowth - firstly because the elephants could appear from nowhere, and also because it was hyena / baboon / venemous snake country that we were working in.

I got a few lizard shots here:

Lizard IDs

And a few of the elephant ones (reduced in quality a lot though before I uploaded them). I've got around 500 high-res photos from the trip that I need to sort through and upload sometime...

These are my three favorites of the elephants though (now this thread is completely off-topic...) They give you an idea of the kind of terrain that these elephants have adapted to living in full-time:
