Yes the water temps will stay high enough, at least for the summer, I wouldn't really recommend trying to keep Maps out all year though.

Construction is exactly the same as any other garden pond, dig a hole and line it, or buy a pre-formed pond, or if you feel really adventurous build a concrete one.

Just make sure it's escape proof, and predator proof especially if they're small.

There are pics of my pre-formed GRP one in the photo section.

Maybe, but personally I wouldn't take the risk with Maps. Most Map species have a more southerly range than other turts, like sliders for instance, and aren't as geared towards hibernation as they are.
Like other southern species I would overwinter them indoors to be safe.

If you use a water heater then they'll stay awake and they'll need to bask, so you'll have to provide a UVB lamp, and the air has to be warm too or they'll get too cold whilst basking, so they need to be in a heated shed or greenhouse, and you may as well just keep them indoors!

so a green house wouldn't over heat?

Hardly likely in winter, you'd be heating it to stop it getting too cold most of the time!

You'd still have to heat it if you want to keep them awake all winter outdoors.

What exactly are you hoping to achieve anyway?
