I think the impressed tortoise is the only species who regularly eats mushrooms - but I could be wrong

I always like to have the dried food in the enclosure and let the tortoises choose whether they want it or not , they have weeds aswell but if they need extra vitamins and minerals they do eat the food . I have noticed them eat it more if they are not feeling 100% . So up to you but I think torts know what they need and will choose what to eat accordingly. Might be worth putting it in to see what theychoose to do . You dont have to put it in on its own , still use your regular diet .If my tort wasnt eating I would try everything.

i dont know what you mean by impressed as there is no impressed species, there is speki, erosa, homeana and natalensis, as far as i know they will all consume mushrooms. as for pellet food, if your tort is refusing all food it would hurt to try it on pellets better to be eating something than nothing, you could always ween it back off or give it 50/50 mix pellets and greens. there is not much known about hingebacks did you buy yours from a pet shop? why dont you join the yahoo hingeback group? they are all american but thats not their fault, but they are very knowledgeable.good luck with your tort.

Been to the vets today and after a thourough examination she could not find much wrong. Worms nil other internal paraites nill and that my worming etc worked. She is under weight and has been given a vitamin injection. Told to try a bit of everything mixed up, she said it might have been fed on dry food and is hooked on it. So I am going to try it tomorrow as well as mixd fresh food.

Saying that, I can't imagine any species of tort. turning its nose up at a mushroom.
