Default Outdoor enclosures for Torts...

My dad has a Hermans Tort, its about 6 years old and he has just asked me about taking it outside during the warm weather. So does anyone have any advice?

Basically I need to know the sort of enclosure to keep it in, how long it can stay outside. Does anyone have any good links also for advice about this?

Thanks

There's a sticky at the top of the page with some great ideas:

tort enclosure info

A 6 year old Hermann can be outside all the time from around May to September in a secure enclosure with access to a waterproof area.

Thanks everyone. I'm making him a 'how too care guide' lol with all the info I have gathered.

One thing tho...do they not dig? My dad is worried about him digging out of the grass but I haven't read anything about it.

hi i have found that most hermans will use a shelter but if for any reason their not happy with it they will dig down.my youngsters spent last year digging under the turf i was always loseing one or the other most nights. i have changed the enclosure this year its small enough for me to reach across and do a fingertip search at night without having to stand in the enclosure and they have started to use their new hut so i hope i wont spend so much time on my hands and knees this year searching.all you can do for sure is make sure the perimeter fence is well dugein 6 inches should be fine unless your soil is really soft.good luck and try not to worry to much.
