Default Hermann - Bathtime help !

Hi Folks,
Can anyone assist with some general bathtime info.....
We have a young Hermann, approx 16-18 months old.

What sort of bath time routine should we be looking to ??
How often, for how long, water temp, depth of water, sink or bowl, etc etc ?????????

All facts, figures and general helpfullness greatly appreciated !!
Many thanks,

Jay

Once a day for 10 to 15 minutes.

Lukewarm water up to the bottom of their shell.

Use anything that is big enough for the tort to splash around in without climbing out... a washing up bowl just for this purpose is ideal.

Thanks Tina,
Are they rehydrated just by being in the water, or do they actually need to drink it ??

LOL... now there's the start of a debate

Cloacal drinking in torts has been discussed a few times, that's just on here, and it's been generally agreed (at the moment) that not enough research has been done to prove or disprove the theory.

Putting them in the bath usually does encourage them to have a drink (from their mouth lol) but not always. Soaking them encourages them to pass urates and poo too.

Mine has a tortoise pool in her table and outdoors so she always has access to water and I see her quite often have a drink or a soak in it. I still give her a bath every evening though as I'm never sure whether she's been in the pool or not.

mine dont seem to drink that much, one likes floating in the water and puts her rear legs straight and enjoys it, the other hates it and is constantly trying to get out, he is a handful !!

Mine enjoy their baths, although Georgies tray is getting too small as he can almost climb out of it.

I quite often find them sat in their water dishes when they are outside, especially Georgie.

Freddie isnt so keen, hes a funny chap always backing up away from things..lol

I use ice cream tubs to bath my torts in, and I have the water hand warm. My tinies have about 15 mins in the bath everyday, but the older ones have a half hour bath 3 times a week
