I was given some of these to try out yesterday, I haven't tried them yet. Has anyone else tried them?
Lucky Reptile - Herb Mix Packet says.. Herb Mix consist of dried dandoleon, clover, ribwort, nettle and peppermint. Dried herbs belong to the natural diet of most herbivorous reptiles and acceptance as food is therefore no problem. In addition the dried herbs have a higher amount of crude fibers than fresh food which is beneficial for the digestion. Veterinarians recommend that the amount of crude fibers should be at least 15% which cannot be accomplished with fresh greens only. Include Herb Mix in your diet to satisfy the reptiles needs. Excellent for tortoises, bearded dragons, iguanas, uromastyx and other plant eaters. Lucy Reptile - Flower Mix Packet says... The Flower Mix contains different kinds of dried flowers which are a treat for reptiles. The flowers are rich in crude fiber and natural vitamines making it the Flower Mix an excellent and healthy addition to the diet. Available in two variants: Flower Mix with blossoms of mallow, cornflower, roses and camomille and the NEW Flower Mix Hibiscus with plenty of hibiscus flowers, a treat for a lot of tropical reptiles, and blossoms of sunflower, dandelion, clover and daisy. So it's basically weeds / flowers, but dried out and the expiry is over a year away. Wondering if this may be a solution for the winter... or is it likely to be the case that torts just ignore them? I've also been given "herb cobs", which are 100% hay. The herb and flower mixes come in 100g trial pack, 1kg or 10kg.... so seem quite useful sizes. I need to trial them out and get some feedback on them really to decide whether I could possibly stock / recommend them.. and use them for my own torts... so anyone seen / heard of or used these?

I remember reading this a while ago so have just searched it for you:
http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/MOUpSM7...ed%20Weeds.doc Personally I wouldn't use them either. I know there are periods when they would eat dried plants in the wild but any weeds that I feed in the morning are dried up by the time I come home at lunch time and mine won't touch them. There's also the fact that they get a lot of their water intake from their food which wouldn't be supplied by the dried diet - that could be a real problem for a tort which doesn't drink much. I suppose as well that feeding isn't such an issue in winter if you have species which hibernate. Whether the owners of non-hibernating species would be interested in them, I don't know, but supermarkets sell such a good variety of fresh products now - even french dandelions - that I'd imagine they would be preferable.

They don't always have them though You can also buy 'living' salad leaves in Sainsbury's which are planted up so you just pop them on your windowsill - water and pick as needed.

I bought a bunch of seeds on ebay and have planted them but nothing yet... I don't have green fingers, otherwise I'd be set!
I have a suspicious feeling all my med torts will ignore the dried stuff, and it's not really the correct diet for my red foots.

The tip seems to be to plant them in deep tubs and leave them alone other than for an occassional water if it get really hot.
