Default my leopard seems to be coming out of her shell lol

i mean she is coming round to me handling her,i bathered her this morning and usually she stays inside her shell but today she was out running round the water even when i was brushing her she stayed out,so hopeully this means she is getting used to me doing things with her.i`m chuffed as whenever i used to do anything with her she stayed firmly in her shell.

alot of the time they just need to feel secure. mine are adults/subadults now and if somebody moves quickly in the garden they all shoot back in the shells. They are not the bravest of creatures, leopard torts. Sulcattas on the other hand are brassy as hell, inquisitive and incredibly prone to getting into trouble!

glad yours seems to be settling in and getting a little braver.

I think they are great tortoises - my male is really human friendly - he follows me around and will always come over if I am sat on the floor - he loves to be hand fed.

We live in a bungalow and occasionally at the weekend I get up early switch on the bulbs and heater and go back to bed - if I leave the doors open they will come into the bedroom and just sit by my bed !!!!!!!

My smallest female is still quite shy but always comes out for my voice and my biggest is not shy just very stroppy.

Yes they are free roaming at the moment but it is hard work continually cleaning up before and after them - we are having outside accomodation this year so they will go out during the day. They are 8" 10" and 12"

This week they have been out all day with the weather being so good - they have free run of the garden too.

although mine have a garden with a greenhouse i am scared of leaving them out at night. so mine come in and go under the stairs. they have a big wooden chest to sleep in and basking lamps for in the morning before they go outside. today i found two of them sat by the back door waiting to go out, before the lamps where even on!

My leopards all come in their room for the evening and only out if I am there to supervise them . they would be stolen if left out in my area . My largest weighs 20lbs getting hard carrying them in and out . might get a trolley haha
