Default water fleas?

hi.i have wee red beasties in my turtle tank.they dont appear to go anywhere near the turtles, just round the edge of the water.ive cleaned bleached the tank (dont worry i rinsed it) but theyve just come back again.when you drain the water off them they move kinda like fleas but i thought water fleas were black and these are red.also theyre much smaller than a pinhead.can anyone tell me what these are and do i need to treat the tank or shall i just leave them as the turtles dont seem to notice them?
thanks

Hi,

Just out of interest, what turtles do you have?

Also, they could be something i ha which were orangy-red and did not affect my fish

All the best, John

If they're on the surface it sounds like mites, if they're actually underwater then they would be something else.

They could be small mites, or one of the several species of clam shrimps. Some are tiny, less than 1mm and can be all sorts of mental colours.

If anything, they will eat all the waste in your tank.
