Default Redfoot Eggs

I've had these redfoots for about 6 years. I raised them from 6 inches to adult and they are just now starting to lay eggs. I've gotten about 15 so far but none have proven to be fertile... yet.

You can always tell when a tortoise is nesting...

It was late in the afternoon and it was hot out... 90F. I was hoping to get her dropping the eggs but this is the best I could do...

This is what I found the next morning. I was surprised to see the eggs exposed but was kind of expecting it considering the texture of the soil... note the rock in the nest. None of the eggs were cracked.

She ended up dropping 7 eggs and half of them look good. I'm hoping I can post the photos of some dynamite Cherryheads in the near future.

Thank you on the enclosures... They still need a great deal of work... I do not have the fertile soil the exists over most of the UK.

I my fingers crossed on this one. I would be a major rush for me to hatch some Redfoots.

congratulations on the eggs Ed, i hope these hatch, i know how frustrating it can be waiting for fertile eggs from youngsters.

Do think they can 'feel' the area where they are laying thus avoiding breakages?

Are they Cherryheads from Barbados? They look very different to the species kept here.
