Default Cuttlefish question

Sherbert my tortoise has never taken any interest in the cuttlefish provided so i took it away as it got all 'yuck'

My question is, on my local beach I can pick up cuttlefish by the dozen. Is it ok to give these to Sherbert or do they need to be treated/washed etc?

i believe terry collects cuttlefish from the beach, pm him to double check though!

and dont be so quick to throw his cuttlefish away cos its dirty and trampled. alot of tortoises prefer it that way and wont eat it unless its naturally weathered and stomped all over...

Cuttlefish from a local CLEAN beach is fine, your tortoises will be more inclined to eat it if you leave it soaking for a week in clean water, this helps to get rid of some of the fishy flavour which sometimes puts them off and it ensures that it's clean.

hi i have fed cuttlefish to mine for years i just run it under the tap before i give them to remove the sand,in the past i have dried it and scraped it into a tub so i could sprinkle it on their food i have thrown the whole thing in the enclosure ,but i find they attack it if i break it into lumps like small stones and most has gone in a couple of days .i must confess its easy to get here and of course free.
