Default southern painted turtles

Hey, I'm looking for two southern painted turtles (preferably babies), but these seem to be impossible to get in the UK

does anyone know where I might find some?

You can't get them in the UK, they haven't been imported for years and the only ones you'll find now are adults up for rehoming, but you have to be quick off the mark to get them!

As the official UK Painted stockist, I can tell you that there's none on the market at the moment.

If there are any around then James is the man to find them!

James is just very good at finding ones that are up for rehoming, he found 4 of mine.

I'm still not sure about the legalities, all I know is that none have been imported for years, but at one time they were relatively common, nowhere near as common as RES but available at least.

I don't know if they're on a list of banned species, I believe it may be legal to personally import CBs from the continent, Holland and Germany for example where there are a few breeders. I was planning a trip over there myself to get some a while back, but then James found me some more adults and I didn't need to.

The whole "banned" thing is very confusing, what is banned, by whom, and why? I've never heard a satisfactory explanation for any of those questions.

Yeah sorry, the UK stockist thing was a joke - although I've somehow stumbled across six this year without looking very hard.

Well finding 6 seems closer to a UK stockist than anyone else I've found : )

Don't suppose you'll find anymore?
