Default filter emergency

i just cleaned out my filter (eheim 2217) but now im trying to turn it back on and its making noises but pumping no water out at all.
i poured water through one pipe until it was full, like the instructions say, so that all the air is out (though no bubbles of air really came through the otherside, but then i didnt lose too much water anyway).

can anyone help? im starting to really worry.

thanks

Turning the whole filter upside-down often gets it going.

i use a jug to fill the pipes when it happens to me, just pour water down the intake pipe & put my thumb over the end when its full put it in the water, take my finger off the hole, switch it back on & it usually works again,

however.... its a lot of messing arround & next time i will be trying turning it upside down, wonder if it works on a fluval?

What you have to do with most filters is suck on the outlet to fill both pipes, and then turn it on, some have an automatic primer thing where you just fill a bit with water and set it off

No, dont try it on a fluval unless you want to make a mess, unless my ones are just useless and leaky
