Hi All,
Im completely unknown on this side of the forum, but looking for a few answers if someone could help me ![]() Got a friend i work with, who keeps talking about wanting a tortoise. Just after some basic background on different tortoises, basic set-ups and requirements if possible. Mainly so when she does all her research, I will know a few basics to reassure her, and know what shes been told is fairly accurate. As we all know several stories of 'inaccurate advise' given by petshops etc. Had a flick through the stickys, but anymore bits of info would be great ![]() |

I think you pretty much have your dessert tortoises, ie greeks sulcatas ect ect and your tropical tortoises, redfoots. Feed them weeds and depending on your tortoise some fruit and a wee bit o protein not alot or it will hurt them. lettuce is OK but its not full of vitamins and they need calcium, and alot of it. Get a full spectrum uvb light so they can synthesize d3 or get alot of it in there diet and theyll be fine. When they are small you can put them in a big rubbermaid box. Hope that helps
