Hi and
![]() The First thing that I would suggest would be to take him out of the vivarium. Tortoise dont really thrive in Vivs because the humidity can somtimes get too high, The preferred choice is a tortoise table - basically a long wooden box with no top. Until you change to a table, you can take the doors out or tip the viv on its side to provide adequate ventilation

We are looking into sorting a table thing rather than the viv, we bought it as a kit from the shop as it had all the other gear in there as a job lot. When we have sorted the shelter we will either sell the viv or find another use for it.
We weren't told about the table by the shop, probably for obvious sales reasons, but the guy did mention that once the tort had settled in and was doing ok it might be worth having a look into getting something else, especially when he gets a bit bigger |

we have only had him for a couple of days and haven't sorted out any king of enclosure for him in the garden yet, that will be the weekend diy job methinks.
He is approx 2 years old, is that too young? Also we both work full time so are not at home very much during the day, even though I will make sure an outside enclosure is secure I doubt I will leave him out when we aren't here as there are numerous cats, my neighbour has about 20 of them!!! |
