Default We like our Vet

Took Charlie and Henri to the vet today to be wormed, their feacal check showed a tiny amount of worm eggs, Vet's idea to take them, but when we got there he said that it would be better if they would eat the wormer rather than stressing them by tubing it, we wanted to feed it to them anyway so that was good news.
Anyways, we asked which one had the worms and he said that as they were together to save us a few quid he got both of the samples checked together, which makes sense as if one of them has worms the other is likely to get them too.
So he weighed them etc to work out the dosage, and told us to wait for them to dispense it. We hung about a bit and when we went to pay he waived the consultation fee and only charged us for the Panacur, a grand total of 47p
Makes a change from the last time I had to take animals to the vet and getting charged an arm and a leg for the slightest thing.

It is a vet school near me, they are the leading vet school in the country which I thought would make them more expensive, but as it turns out they seem a lot cheaper, the qualified vets have the students in the consultations with them so we are doing our bit for education by going there

sounds like a good system they have there. alotof evts go to vet school to learn how to help animals and create a better world blah blah blah. then as soon as they can they set up a practice and become money hungry evil tyrants that charge a kidney just for a consult! i am glad that you have found a good reasonable vet. makes it much more likely that a tortoise will get satisfactory medical treatment than if they charge an arm and a leg. good for you.
