Oh what a shame Claire and she was settling in so well. I'd say vets and get it nipped in the bud as soon as you can. Let us know how she gets on.

Worth having a look if he had just got out his water bowl .two of mine are terrible for sticking their whole heads under water and come up spluttering . I would also just check your humidity levels as very humid in manchester not sure what its like near you. Turn your heating up a bit . All worth a check .

If she has got RNS you need to know what caused it else it might come back. What are your temps like?

Many factors but stress, incorrect temperature or humidity, something in their nose, incorrect substrate, incorect diet etc

Thing is RNS can spread from tortoise to tortoise and once your tortoise has it it is a carrier and it can easily come back. That is why its important to find out why it started in the first place.

a good rule of thumb (according to my vet) is clear fluid around the nares with only the occasional bubbles that is NOT consistant is environmental while cloudy disharge that is persistant is a bad sign. Doesnt always apply of course but try not to panic about this just yet. easier said than done, my vet told me to stop paying him to tell me to do things i already knew to do. Once you realise that you can fix alot of problems at home its much easier to chillout, but it took me a year or so to get there as alot of it is about knowing each animals personality and what is in the range of normal behaviour.

maybe something in the air, i checked on my outdoor leos for the first time yesterday ( husband been doing it for 4 days) and my two biggest have runny noses. A long bath and a hosing in the greenhouse and a misting in the shed and they seemed fine. so i am putting it down to dust for now. fingers crossed for you!

Default update

thanks for the replies people.
been to vet and he gave her a injection in each leg,and she need's anther dosage on saturday, the vet showed us how to inject and administer the drugs and gave us her next dosage he said he likes to give 2 doses to make sure its cleared up.he was not a specialist vet but the surgery deal with tortoise, english geza from on here has used him also,
i was impressed with him he walked the walk and knew the talk,he weighed her said she was a good weight 4 her size asked about temps substrate uv diet ect he was brilliant, and all was fine with the way im keeping he said ,
the bill was even better,£13.00
i was like brillliant,
she never even flinched when he jabed her she wanted to know y he was pulling her leg, theres no hissing or sneezeing from her ,she has tucked her self up to bed now so lets hope she makes a recovery,

he was telling us he had a leo in last week and it was the biggest tort he had seen (treated) he said there was a bull mastif scouring in the corner of the waiting foom as this massive leo had its head out wading over to explore the dog,he said he had never seen a dog look as scared lol.the leo had to be induced as it was eggbound, the owner of it rang the vt back on the way home and the tort had had 5 eggs on the journey home ,talk about fast,

he said no follow up if required if we think she is fine if the drugs dont work go back but he is 99% they will,

Did they xray her Claire ? or give you a diagnosis

She sounds a lovely placid girl !!! When I took Honey for her injections the vet had to use some weird tool to prise her out - she hated it - didn't come out of her shell for at least an hour afterwards!!
