Absolutely nothing.
They should be treated as wild caught by taking them to a vet and having them treated for worms and protozoa but that's the only precaution. They are ranched tortoises... free range and all that. Some believe they are wild caught... I don't believe they are. Ed Quote:

Just to add from my own experience regarding slovenian imports. I have 5 slovenians here and have never had a problem with them.
They have all been tested for internal parasites etc and all came back clear. Infact NONE of them have ever come back positive for worms, which is interesting as two older CB ibera I have are almost constantly infected.

These tortoises are kept in pens in environments that are similar to their native habitat. There is really not enough time for inbreeding. The disease that is advertised... most likely exagerated. The animals are as good as any other you might come across. |
