For those who beleive that the yellow markings have to be complete around and under the eye on a miss map, typically it does but not always (see picture 22 in the link below) and have trouble telling the difference between false and mississippi, yes i did notice the remark in your pic's, not really the best way to get advice

One of the book's i have has quite a good little section on breeding, It's called Turtles, published by Barron's, ISBN-10: 0-7641-1183-3. Oh and a few good picture's of miss map's

By the way like what you've done for the female/s to lay eggs, not a bad idea, could probably do with being deeper though, just my opinion

Photo Gallery

I won't bother with any more idea's from the research i've done, seeing as i don't know the difference between a false map and a mississippi map turtle though.

SOD IT, i will try and get involved with the thread, because it is a good one

I'll start by saying Nice Tank

One thing that is a little bit of a concern is the lid on the tank, its highly recommended that a lid isn't used when keeping turt's in tanks because the humidity that can be caused by having a lid on can cause serious health problems, however an increase in humidity is advised when trying to breed turt's, although lots of other things like water temp, air temp, daylight hours, increases, etc, all have to play a part as well as increasing the humidity, all following decreases that is, but i've still never come across anything that advises the use of a lid on an indoor tank, might be worth checking out.

What kind of lighting are you using (Heat / UVB) ?

Are the turt's kept indoor's or do they go out for the summer ?

What adjustments have you been making to your water, air temp's & daylight hours ?

Do you seperate the male's / female/s ?

Two males to one female is definitely not recommended, it should be the other way round if anything. Nice tank, but I think you should have more of a land/basking area. Make sure the basking temps etc are good on the land area.

It seems you have ignored the questions and failed to give any answers and also giving any reasoning for the lid on the tank, not sure why, but all these questions play a big part in your turtles health and breeding potential. Like james says it could be worth making the basking / land area larger if you can, and adding females to your collection for your breeding plans

It is also recommended that the egg laying site / sand is at the very least as deep as the length of your turtles shell.

How do you plan on incubating the eggs ?

Oh and did you manage to look at the link i provided for you, what did you think ?

The lid may keep in heat, but it also keeps in humidity, which can lead to RI, and the turtles not being able to dry off properly. Do you have a basking light?
