Bit of a nightmare isn't it. Going to vets today so hopefully will get him better and then I'll create a new tank setup for him...... poor nuisance. at least I know what to focus on now. Just hope they wont be lonely without eachother....
Thanks for all your help - you've been great.

Yeah turtles can be a total nightmare, for some reason I think they're worth it. I've observed turtles together, and those by themselves, and I would have to conclude mine looked happier on their own. They're naturally solitary animals, and I have to think the most they ever do is tolerate other turtles.

By the sound of it I think you probably have two basic problems here, the tank is too small for two turts of this size and that has probably resulted in aggression between them. Then an inadequate filter coupled with too little water volume means you probably have poor water quality, that will not only increase the risk of wounds becoming infected but will also cause stress, which will increase the likelyhood of aggression. It's a never ending spiral, and the only way out is to have two separate setups with better filtration for each of them, as James has said they are two species with very different requirements anyway, so for that reason alone they shouldn't be kept together.

Thanks Graham.
Right, back from International Zoo Vet. Nuisance has had a vitamin jab, 12 day antibiotics and betodine for the wounds. Johanna (vet) thinks he will be fine but has sent a swab off to check there is no nasty infection. So hopefully he's ok now.
Looking at another tank set up tomorrow so problem should all be solved! I'm a fair few hundred pounds lighter now but then you can't put a price on health....
Phew what a nightmare and not the best outcome having 2 tanks in my house now but hey.
Thanks so much for all your help, I'm so relieved

Hey,
All ok just wondered how you measure the aquarium salt to add to water. How much?
I never added it before but want to ensure he stays healthy so if James T or Graham could reply I'd be really grateful - thanks
