For hatchlings i use:

I use sand and soil as a bottom substrate then 3/4 hemp and 1/4 oyster shell for my meds.

Red foots have a good layer of top soil then a layer of repti bark.

Stars have 1/4 peat for humidity and then 3/4 top soil with timothy grass on top.

I wont use hemp for adults

Indoors... aspen at the moment but have used sand/soil and hemp. The jury is still out on what I (and the torts of course) prefer and what I'll go with long term.

I use sand/soil always for my meds and top soil with a layer or orchid bark for my red foots and a little area that is a "mud wallow" which they enjoy entirely too much. Have not experienced any problems maintaining the right humidity with those mixes

We have used sand/soil mix, we have also used forest bed and we are currently using something that is dried hay in small pellet form, can't remember what it is called but the torts seem to like it

Question is ................ what should I vote for??????
