Oh wow they look so sweet when they are sat in their shells.

Question: Do you have to use a special incubator for tortoise eggs?

hi Vicky i used a home made one for nearly 20 years but i have a hovabator now and have used this alongside my old one i am very pleased with it i think a lot of breeders use the hovabator, the main difference when you incubate reptile eggs as opposed to birds is that the reptile eggs dont require turning during incubation so any incubator you use wont need nor should it have this facility.

for our incubator we got as broken fridge from the tip. I stripped the workings out of it so it was just basically an emty box. Then I ran aquarium heat cable along the underside of the shelves andadded a thermostat and a thermometer probe. It keeps the temperatures perfectly and is easily adjustable. cost me just the heater and stat and can hold hundreds of eggs..
