Same with my reds really some are outgoing and some are laid back, but you know when they have eggs in them as they are wandering all over the place.

Redfoots have a large varition in size ranging from the smaller Cherry headed animals at 25cm to the large Brazilian reds which can grow as large as 45 cms,
Its doubtful you would find many reds of the Brazilian type in the UK as most imported adults are brought in from Guayana with an adult size of about 25-35 cms . Leopards on the other hand reach much bigger sizes 65-70cms far larger as adults than redfoots. Redfoots are rather shy retiring animals prefering warm humid areas with low light levels Leopards are far more outgoing prefering large open areas with good grazing. Suitable housing for a pair of Redfoots would be around 5x7ft with access to an outdoor enclosure through the summer months (May-September). D |

Think ive decided that i should stick to what i love which is Leos.. However where would be the best place to look for one.. Would rehoming be the best solution.. Are there any Leo breeders?.. I dont know whether there is still contraversy over breeding Leos in UK?

other than terry i dont know of any leopard breeders. I have leo eggs incubating but i dont hold out much hope for the fertility this year.
as for the "contraversy" over the leopard breeding, i was made blatantly aware of that myself. as soon as i advertised for a large female my email inbox was inundated with people telling me breeding leos in the uk was wrong. But seeing as the petshops are full of wild caught or ranched leopards i have started to see breeding in the uk as pretty important to help cut down the WC trade. I do have some rehomer leopards but its a little innacurate to say that there is lots and lots of them up for rehoming. there is alot of any type of tortoise up for rehoming, and i see its more common for the meds to be rehomed. and ANY keeper can have problems that can lead to any type of tortoise or animal needing to be moved on toa new home. preloved is a good site for animals, aslong as you can tell a healthy animal from an unhealthy animal you will be fine. Actually i have just thought , I DO know a breeder down in hastings, he had babies and adult females. if you are interested pm me and i will dig out his contact details. He can also arrange delivery through a licensed and insured livestock courier. |

Certain organisations think it is bad to breed leopards even to keep them in this country is wrong, so because of this many people are put off having them or dont tell people they breed them and sell to pet shops.
Although attitutes towards keeping leopards is slowly changing. I hope to have eggs off my female this year, she had 34 in her when i got her last year. What i plan to do is hatch the 1st clutch (if they hatch) and see how many people want them. I dont want to hatch out babies that no one wants.
