I adopted two hermans and the male(Merlin) didnt take to eating weeds etc like the female Mab(who eats llike a pig!!).I give him T rex dry formula as well as weeds etc but he chooses to eat the formula.
I see it like this..if your dog didnt like one particular brand of food and it didnt agree with him youd shop round and find something that did.Surely that applies to tortoises too? All im interested in is keeping my two as healthy and happy as i can..pellets?schmellets!!Bit of variety doesnt hurt now does it?

Both my hermanns LOVE the t-rex pellets, they run to the bowl as soon as they smell it.

I think its more of a 'junk food' to them like a KFC meal or pizza VS weeds and leaves, which would be classed as proper food (like a sunday dinner is to us).

i have used t-rex pellets as couldnt find any others around near me, I'm not currently using them at the moment cos although my tortoise loves them they set off my morning sickness So i'd be interested to know of other brands.

Personally, they smell pretty nice. But this differs in different brands. I have noticed ZooMed's pellets have a much stronger smell, but not "sickly." Reptilix smells like a mixture of vegetables and fruits and not so strong..
