Default Humidity

Because I keep my tortoise (an Ibera) in a room with a lot of aquaria the ambient humidity on the hygrometer is high... between 70-80%. Higher if I was to leave off the lids/condensation trays! Generally it is pretty consistant.

Because of the Megaray, the humidity gradient in the tort table is at all times (when the heat/light is on) roughly from 30%-80%. Is this OK? I've not seen any problems so far and he seems like a happy wee man but I haven't had him very long.

Some folks would kill for that kind of condition.

Don't change a thing.

Sounds great to me...I had to purchase a humidifier!!

Well actually sent hubby out to get it....and he came back with a de-humidifier. That was me off out again!

Fab!

I thought it would be OK for him given that he can make the choice of how humid an area he wishes to go in but just wanted to make sure as you see a lot about arid conditions etc...

Helen ditch the humidifer and just get 100 odd gallons of water in tanks instead

Just thought i'd note down some numbers over the last few days re: where my tort has been choosing to hang out when he isn't actively hunting down his dinner.

For the first first hours of the day he heads to the dry 30% humidity area, after that when he has eaten, he chills out in an area around 50%- he won't go back to the 30% for the rest of the day. Where he sleeps at night it's much higher at 80%.
