and was wondering i have a bird (i dont know what type of bird it is ) in my garden who eats snails every day and leaves the shells (in a pile )if i was to collect the shells and then wash them in boilling water then crush them and put them in th enclosure would the be safe for my torts to eat ???

what do you think ? the TT says they are a good sorce of calcium and in the wild they have been observed eating them

That will be a thrush Just remember that snails and slugs can carry a lot of worms so you would need to keep on top of worming. I would wash them again after crushing just to be sure.
